Major League Soccer outfit San Jose Earthquakes are reportedly close to agreeing a deal to sign midfielder Eric Remedi, according to various news outlets. The Quakes are close to getting the deal over the line after spending most parts of the last few days locked in negotiations with the midfielder, his agent, and his club. Reports on Friday made headlines as they indicated that the midfielder is set to quit the Quakes’ league rivals Atlanta United and complete the move.
Remedi is not the most attack-minded players as he plays deep and helps shore up things at the back. However, when he storms forward, he can make things happen and help in attack. The player is of Argentine descent and has a great relationship with his current manager Matias Almeyda under whom he played at Banfield.
It’s not clear yet how badly Sam Jose Earthquakes want to get Remedi but if they eventually do, they would be getting a solid midfield player who would actually be a great signing and a great fit to their pattern of football. With both teams currently tight-lipped about the rumors, it’s not yet known how close the deal is.
