POOR FORM FOR SEATTLE

Seattle Sounders’ poor form at the start of the 2014 season continued after they lost to Columbus Crew in the latest match. This has pushed them to fourth place in the table after having been involved in just four matches.

The club were recently defeated 2-1 by Toronto, but they appeared to recover from this defeat following a 2-0 win over Montreal Impact in the last match. Even against Sunday’s opponents Columbus Crew, Seattle Sounders were comfortable for most of the match. They had several stars like Clint Dempsey and Brad Evans on the pitch.

This helped them get a 1-0 lead in the match going into the hour mark. However, things changed pretty quickly from there on in after the opposition were awarded a penalty. Djimi Traore was also sent off with a straight red card after conceding this penalty. Higuaín successfully converted the spot kick, which levelled things. Even with a man down, Seattle Sounders were looking to see out the game and get a valuable point. However, their hopes were crushed in the 90th minute when Meram scored the winner.

The result has put a huge dent on the title hopes of Seattle Sounders, according to the pays bas espagne cote, as they trail leaders Dallas by four points already.

“We did what we thought we’d be able to do. We knew that they like to spread the field and they spread their players on the field, and that when you can intercept passes you can get at them pretty quickly and the flank areas are open because their outside backs are up so high,” said the coach, Sigi Schmid. “It’s very frustrating, especially after the first that we had. I feel like it was one of the better halves that we have put together as a team,” Neagle said. The club’s next match will be against Portland Timbers.
