New York Red Bulls finally showed the kind of dominance that has been missing from the team for quite a while.
They way in which they thoroughly dismantled FC Dallas, who are top of the table in the Western Conference, in a 4-0 demolition has led to manager Jesse Marsch claiming that the team is starting to take a foothold. He is finally seeing real performances from New York Red Bulls. The team has now won back-to-back games in order to put behind their poor start to the season. It was only recently that the four back-to-back defeats saw them struggling in the table.
Prior to the last two victories, New York Red Bulls had managed just one win throughout the campaign. Now they seem to have enough confidence to go on and move closer to the top. Defender Sal Zizzo claimed that the club had the quality to be able to beat any team on their day. Now, it was about making those performances consistent in order to start challenging for the league title. Marsch admitted that there were very little opportunities for the team to rally earlier in the campaign. Now, he is hoping that they use the back-to-back victories to put them on a winning run.
“I believe in things that are real and I look at this team and I know that it’s real. Yeah, we haven’t gotten breaks and we gave away too many goals. There were moments when we were rattled a little bit in the beginning parts of the season, but again, I think we used that to strengthen us,” said Marsch. “I think we can beat any team in the league if we have our A game for the night,” said defender Sal Zizzo. The club’s next match is against Orlando City.
