LA Galaxy head coach SigiSchmid has stated that he is disappointed with the defeat of his team against Portland Timbers and he feels that the team could have down better.
He congratulated Portland Timbers for having been the best team on the day, and he feels that his players did not give their best on the pitch. He said that their opponent was the better team as from the kick-off and that they struggled to gain control of the game.
However, SigiSchmid believes that LA Galaxy had chances in the first half and unfortunately they did not take it. He said that despite the fact that Portland Timbers were the better side, the complexion of the game could have changed if they scored the goal first.
Unfortunately for him, his players did not manage to score a goal that would have allowed them to gain control of the game.
The LA Galaxy head coach said that the team played better in the second half, but this is due in part to the fact that Portland Timbers decrease the tempo of the game as they attempt to keep the result.
He said that there had been some positive from the game, but the team needs to get better. He said that they were very poor when it comes to keeping the ball and that they give the ball softly at times. He said that the players need to be more focus and that they should put the opponents under more pressure.
SigiSchmid believes that this improvement will come with more practice on the training ground, but it is important that they start picking up points if they do not want to be trailing in the table. He believes that his players will respond with a good performance in the next game.
